We kicked off Black History Month at Ruth Asawa SOTA this past Friday with our Jazz Concert - a Duke Ellington tribute with fantastic performances by our music and vocal students, plus our special guest Marcus Shelby. Our Black Student Union (BSU) + African American PAC (AAPAC) have put together a whole program of activities for this month. This coming Friday there are two!

Black History Month Student Assembly. Sponsored by Friends of SOTA and featuring educator & artist Griot B of School Yard Rap, along with Asawa SOTA students, our school-wide assemblies will engage students and staff in an engaging, uplifting, and enlightening interactive performance. Content will highlight the historical contributions of African Americans as well as the experience of Black Americans today. Families welcome to attend! Performances will occur in the DKMT at 8:15 and 9:50 on Friday, February 7th.
