OUR MISSION

WHO WE ARE

At Ruth Asawa School of the Arts, the PTSA works to positively impact all students and staff, strengthen our school community, and support our school’s world-class arts education. The Ruth Asawa School of the Arts PTSA brings parents, students, teachers, staff, and supporters together to help every student thrive. We build community, host events, keep families connected, fund programs and school needs, support faculty and staff, and advocate for students and public education.

The Ruth Asawa School of the Arts PTSA is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that has been part of the school community since 1989. Our PTSA is part of the National PTA and the California PTA. The California State PTA's mission is to positively impact the lives of all children, youth, and families.

The PTSA sponsors many community events — from campus beautification to monthly talks on subjects vital for families and students, often with featured guest speakers. The PTSA also provides information on current local, state, and national initiatives.

HOW WE OPERATE

Everyone in our community is welcome to participate in PTSA activities.

We are governed by bylaws that are renewed biannually and filed with the California State PTA. We generate revenue through donations, membership dues, and merchandise sales. All financial information is public, and budgets are approved at our General Assembly meetings (aka Community Meetings).

PTSA members are eligible to vote at PTSA meetings or elections. An Executive Board is elected annually and may serve for up to two years in a single Board position.
