Ruth Asawa SOTA and COVID-19 Updates
Due to recommendations from the City of San Francisco and the San Francisco Unified School District, performances, meetings and workshops have been postponed until further notice. You can find updates from SFUSD by clicking HERE.
This decision aligns with SFDPH’s goals for social distancing: to limit people being exposed to the virus (COVID-19) by reducing the number of occasions when people come together. We thank you for your understanding.
The following guidelines are in place between now and March 22nd. Ms.Boyle has listed in bold how this specifically impacts our community.
No school wide assemblies or large gatherings. We do not have any planned between now and March 22nd.
All field trips (both day and overnight, inside and outside of San Francisco) are hereby canceled. Due to SBAC testing, we do not have any approved on the Master Calendar. Trips scheduled for the week of March 23rd are to be determined.
Athletics practices and games are canceled. Performance events, including rehearsals are canceled. For us, this means we will not run any shows until March 22nd at the earliest. The musical, the chamber music concert, theatre playwriting shows, the visual art show, the concerto concert and the spoken arts show will NOT run as planned. Additionally, McAteer Learning Lab (or after school tutoring) is canceled.
School community/family meetings with more than 50 people in attendance in one space at one time are canceled. This includes the Parent Workshop on 3/11 and the PTSA meeting on 3/18.
We do not have an after school program (as referenced in the email as an "essential activity"). This means all students, groups and clubs should plan to leave the campus at the official end of the school day (3:10PM). Staff is requested to leave by 4PM in order for custodial to thoroughly sanitize the building.
Non-SFUSD community meetings during evenings or weekends being held on school property. All permits are canceled during this time.
In order to practice "social distancing" all staff meetings between 3/9 and 3/22 are postponed.
After School Parent Meetings are postponed. This includes the LPAC Meeting (3/16). Members of the SSC will be contacted about meeting virtually on 3/19, or rescheduling. A new date/time or instructions will be posted.
SFUSD Professional Development is canceled between 3/9 and 3/22.
Families are requested to follow normal attendance reporting routines. Students who are in quarantine or families who are taking precaution by keeping students home will NOT need a doctor's note to excuse their absences. Simply send a note once your student returns for general illness, or, if you plan to have your student out for an extended period of time, please call the main office.
Staff are continuing to update their Google Classrooms/StudentVUE platforms. Uploading assignments and readings for the next two weeks will allow students who are home access to some of the class content.
Thanks for your generous donations of tissues and wipes! We expect SFUSD to deliver more essential sanitary supplies in the coming week. Hand sanitizing and cell phone cleaning stations are still in place in the main office and library!
We appreciate your support and patience in this trying situation.
